Removing an old kitchen and preparing the room for the new installation can often be traumatic for the client. We purposely left in a few units until the very last minute so some of the appliances could still be used.
This property was ‘timber-framed’ and needed an opening widened; a double timber beam and catnic lintel fitted and the walls and sections of the ceiling made good with new plasterboard and plaster skim.
Of course, before any beams could be covered up, Building Control in Kettering had to ensure that the beam installations and sections of the building work were carried out in accordance with current building regulations.
These kitchen fitting alterations were carried out on a ‘Building Notice’ so planning permission wasn’t needed.
